Website redesign checklist (UK small businesses)

Before you redesign your site, use this checklist to avoid delays, broken SEO, and unclear scope.

A redesign can improve your brand and conversions, but only if the planning is solid. Most problems come from missing content, unclear goals, or launching without proper checks.

1) Define the business goal first

Choose one primary outcome: more enquiries, more bookings, or more sales. This shapes page structure and calls-to-action.

2) List every page you need

Map your core pages (home, services, pricing, contact, legal) plus any landing pages you plan to run ads to.

3) Prepare content before build week

Gather service copy, testimonials, FAQs, and contact details early. Late content is the biggest launch delay.

4) Protect SEO during migration

Keep page titles and key URLs where possible, add canonicals, update sitemap.xml, and test Search Console indexing after launch.

5) Add tracking from day one

Set up GA4 and define conversions (form submit, call clicks, WhatsApp clicks). You cannot improve what you do not measure.

6) Run a pre-launch QA pass

Check mobile layout, speed, forms, email notifications, and browser compatibility. Then run Lighthouse and fix critical issues.
